UPDATE – Chris Reed Memorial Fund

Chris Reed, Olympic Ice Dancer and skating coach, passed away suddenly in March. The skating world was deeply saddened over this. In honor of Chris, a memorial fund was established by Cathy and Allison Reed, Chris’s sisters. Cathy was Chris’s former ice dance partner and Allison is an ice dance competitor. Contributions from gracious donors around the world resulted in over $34,000 being raised.

It was the wish of the Reed family that all funds raised were donated to Arctic Figure Skating Club, in Canton, MI. Chris trained at Arctic Edge Ice Arena while he was competing, and coached skaters of the Arctic Figure Skating Club after his competitive career. Chris was passionate about teaching and developing young skaters. The Reed family wanted Chris’s passion to carry on, and was grateful that the funds to the Arctic Figure Skating Club could be used towards creating a dance room at Arctic Edge Ice Arena for the skaters to develop their dance and choreography skills in an off-ice environment.

Arctic Figure Skating Club is pleased to announce that the funds raised in honor of Chris Reed have been received and are putting a plan in place to remodel and refurbish the dance room at Arctic Edge Ice Arena. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the progress on the dance room hasn’t progressed as quickly as hoped, but progress is being made.

As this project progresses, updates will be announced. Arctic Figure Skating Club would like to thank all of the donors that contributed to the Chris Reed Memorial Fund. Arctic Figure Skating Club is extremely grateful to the Reed Family for choosing Arctic Figure Skating Club to honor Chris. He was loved by all and will be missed.
